Storrs Hall Hotel
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Storrs Hall Hotel?
I’m Andy Wade, a documentary wedding photographer covering the Lake District. I’ve photographed weddings at Storrs Hall on the shore of Windermere, and its grounds are among my favourites anywhere: including the Temple of Naval Heroes, where in late summer the sun drops directly behind it.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
If you’re getting married at Storrs Hall, this page covers the venue from a photographer’s point of view: the gardens, the light, and how I work the day so the photography never takes over. I usually ask for about 20 minutes for portraits: long enough to get the good stuff, short enough you’re not back late to your own party.

Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! A day that was stellar in so many ways! Just fab people and total togetherness around Tanya and Ryan in one of my fave places. With such beautiful light it was no surprise that a quick photo session at The Surprise View over Derwent Water just added to the perfect day. Weddings are all about…

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
What Storrs Hall Hotel is like as a wedding venue
Inside Storrs Hall
Storrs Hall is a Georgian country house hotel on the eastern shore of Windermere, a couple of miles south of Bowness, with gardens and woodland running down to the lake. It has real history without feeling like a museum, and the weddings here are intimate and utterly romantic.
The elegant Georgian mansion hosts ceremonies and celebrations in rooms full of period beauty, and the famous Boathouse on the water's edge is about as romantic a spot as the Lake District offers. With luxurious bedrooms, the whole house becomes yours.
A boathouse on the water's edge
The 17 acres of grounds run down to a private stretch of Windermere shoreline: lawns, woodland, the jetty and the Boathouse, with the lake and fells beyond. For portraits, it's one of the finest settings in England, full stop.
The day flows like a dream: ceremony in the mansion, drinks on the lawns, portraits down at the water, then dinner in the Georgian rooms as the lake turns to silver outside.

The History of Storrs Hall Hotel
The finest house on Windermere
Storrs Hall is a Grade II* listed Georgian mansion, built between 1808 and 1811 for John Bolton, a Liverpool merchant who wanted the finest house on Windermere. The shore had form for entertaining before that: an earlier owner, John Legard, kept yachts here and threw grand parties on the lake.
The house has welcomed an extraordinary roll-call of guests over the centuries, including Wordsworth, who visited and wrote of the place, and it remains one of the most celebrated houses on the lake.
Wordsworth was a guest
Now a boutique hotel, Storrs Hall offers intimate, exclusive weddings in one of the most historic and romantic settings in the Lake District. For a small wedding of real grandeur, there's nowhere like it.
How To Get To Storrs Hall Hotel
Storrs Hall is on the B5077, a couple of miles south of Bowness-on-Windermere, postcode LA23 3LG. Leave the M6 at junction 36, follow the A591 to Windermere and Bowness, then continue on the B5077 towards Newby Bridge; the hall is signposted on the right.
Windermere station, with direct trains from Oxenholme, is about 10 minutes away by taxi, and there's parking in the grounds.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
I’ve photographed weddings at Storrs Hall and I know the grounds, the shoreline light, and the details like the dome shot that make a gallery from this venue different.
My approach is documentary: real moments, real reactions, with around 20 minutes of relaxed portraits by the lake. If that sounds like your Storrs Hall wedding, I’d love to hear about it. You can see a real Storrs Hall wedding in my gallery from Pippa & Harry.
