Low Wood Bay
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Low Wood Bay?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and Low Wood Bay has one of the best settings of any venue I photograph at: right on the shore of Lake Windermere with the fells rising behind it. I’ve shot three weddings here and that lakeside lawn in front of the water is a gift for photography.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
The lake at your feet and the fells at your back. Let’s create something beautiful together at Low Wood Bay.

A gorgeous place in the world
Sally and Jordan // Askham Hall Wedding

Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. There was a marvellous mix of Polish and English and plenty of happy tears. …
Tanya & Ryan // Lodore Falls Wedding
A day that was stellar in so many ways! Just fab people and total togetherness around Tanya and Ryan in one of my fave places. With such beautiful light it was no surprise that a quick photo session at The Surprise View over Derwent Water just added to the perfect day. Weddings are all about…
Low Wood Bay Weddings
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Low Wood Bay Wedding Venue
Inside Low Wood Bay
Low Wood Bay has one of the best settings of any venue I photograph at, right on the shore of Lake Windermere with the fells rising behind it. I've shot 3 weddings here and that lakeside lawn in front of the hotel is made for wedding days.
The hotel offers a real choice: two spaces for your ceremony, four options for the wedding breakfast, and the Waterside function centre for evening parties, so the day can be tailored exactly to your numbers and style. With extensive bedrooms, the spa and the watersports centre, guests are exceptionally well looked after.
Three weddings in, on the finest shore
The lawns run right down to the water, with the whole sweep of Windermere and the fells beyond. For portraits, I know every inch: the jetty, the shoreline, the lawns at golden hour. The lake gives you drama, calm and everything in between, whatever the weather.
The day flows with the confidence of a venue that does this brilliantly: ceremony with the lake behind you, drinks on the lawn, portraits by the water, then a party in the Waterside as the fells fade into dusk.

The History of Low Wood Bay
Three centuries on the shore
Low Wood Bay has been welcoming guests to the Windermere shoreline for over 300 years, with records of an inn on this spot going back to 1705. It grew from a family farm and small inn into one of the first hotels in the Lake District, rebuilt in the coaching era to serve the thousands of travellers arriving as Lakeland tourism boomed.
That long history of hospitality shows: this is a venue that has hosted celebrations for generations, on one of the finest stretches of shoreline on England's largest lake.
Hosting since 1705
Now part of the English Lakes Hotels group, Low Wood Bay is a full resort hotel with the Winander Club leisure facilities, yet it has kept the warmth of its family inn roots. For a Windermere wedding with scale, choice and an unbeatable shore, it's the benchmark.
How To Get To Low Wood Bay
Low Wood Bay is on the A591 between Windermere and Ambleside, postcode LA23 1LP. Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590 then the A591 towards Ambleside; the hotel entrance is clearly signposted on the left as you pass the bay.
Windermere station, with direct trains from Oxenholme on the West Coast Main Line, is about 10 minutes away by taxi, and there's plenty of parking.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Low Wood Bay wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Low Wood Bay, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
