Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Burnside Hotel?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and The Burnside is a proper Lakeland hotel wedding, right on the shore at Bowness with the lake on the doorstep. I’ve photographed a wedding here and the location is hard to beat: you’re 300 metres from the water.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
Three hundred metres from Lake Windermere: the photographs write themselves. Let’s create something beautiful together at The Burnside.

A gorgeous place in the world
Sally and Jordan // Askham Hall Wedding
Just loved this day with Sally & Jordan! What a beautiful bunch they are and all in a beautiful setting. Askham Hall is just about perfect in every way. But weddings are a people thing and these guys were so relaxed and chilled it was just a joy to be around them! Askham Hall has…
Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. There was a marvellous mix of Polish and English and plenty of happy tears. …
Tanya & Ryan // Lodore Falls Wedding
A day that was stellar in so many ways! Just fab people and total togetherness around Tanya and Ryan in one of my fave places. With such beautiful light it was no surprise that a quick photo session at The Surprise View over Derwent Water just added to the perfect day. Weddings are all about…

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Burnside Hotel Wedding Venue
Inside the Burnside
The Burnside is a proper Lakeland hotel wedding, right on the shore at Bowness with the lake on the doorstep. I've photographed a wedding here and the location is hard to beat: you're 300 metres from the steamer piers and the heart of Bowness, but the hotel itself feels peaceful and tucked away.
The hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies, so the whole day can happen in one place, and the reception rooms look out towards the lake. Bedrooms for your guests come with access to the Parklands Country Club leisure facilities, which makes staying over feel like a mini-break rather than just a bed for the night.
Steps from the steamer piers
For portraits, the lake shore is right there: a two-minute wander gives you jetties, steamers and the fells across the water, and the gardens and fell views behind the hotel give you options whatever the light's doing. Bowness itself is a lovely place for guests to explore before and after the day.
The flow is effortless: ceremony in the hotel, drinks with lake views, a stroll to the shore for portraits, then back for food and dancing. Guests love it because everything in Bowness is walkable.

The History of Burnside Hotel
A classic Lakes hotel
The Burnside has welcomed guests to Bowness-on-Windermere for generations, one of the traditional Lakeland hotels that grew up as tourism boomed after the railway reached Windermere in 1847. Bowness became the gateway to the lake, and hotels along Kendal Road have looked after visitors ever since.
Sitting just above the steamer piers, the Burnside combines the character of a classic Lakes hotel with modern comforts, including the Parklands Country Club leisure facilities that wedding guests can enjoy throughout their stay.
Tourism's first great boom
It remains privately owned and run, which shows in the personal way weddings are looked after here. In a village full of wedding options, the Burnside's combination of lakeside location, warm service and proper Lakeland character keeps it a firm favourite.
How To Get To Burnside Hotel
The Burnside Hotel is on Kendal Road in Bowness-on-Windermere, postcode LA23 3EP. Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A591 to Windermere, then turn left onto the A592 down to Bowness. At the lakeshore, continue past the steamer pier for about 300 metres and the hotel is on your left.
Windermere station, with direct trains from Oxenholme on the West Coast Main Line, is around 5 minutes away by taxi.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Burnside Hotel wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Burnside Hotel, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
