Inn on the Lake
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Inn on the Lake?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and The Inn on the Lake has one of the most breathtaking settings of any wedding venue in the Lake District: 15 acres of lawns stretching down to the shores of Ullswater at Glenridding, with Helvellyn watching over it all.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.

Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. There was a marvellous mix of Polish and English and plenty of happy tears. …
Tanya & Ryan // Lodore Falls Wedding
A day that was stellar in so many ways! Just fab people and total togetherness around Tanya and Ryan in one of my fave places. With such beautiful light it was no surprise that a quick photo session at The Surprise View over Derwent Water just added to the perfect day. Weddings are all about…

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Inn on the Lake Wedding Venue
Inside the Inn on the Lake
The Inn on the Lake has one of the most breathtaking settings of any wedding venue in the Lake District: 15 acres of lawns stretching right down to the shores of Ullswater at Glenridding, with Helvellyn rising behind. You can even arrive by boat on the Ullswater Steamers, which makes for an entrance your guests will never forget.
The hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies, including in its stunning Lakeside Gazebo right by the water, and the wedding team have years of experience making the most of this extraordinary setting. With bedrooms throughout, guests wake up to the lake too.
A gazebo at the water's edge
The 15 acres of grounds run down to a private stretch of Ullswater shoreline, with lawns, a jetty and views up the lake to the fells. For portraits, the gazebo, the shore and Helvellyn's bulk give us world-class backdrops in every light.
The day flows like a dream: ceremony by the water, drinks on the lawns, portraits on the jetty as the steamers glide past, then dinner and dancing with the lake darkening outside.

The History of Inn on the Lake
From Glenridding House to lakeside inn
The Inn on the Lake began life as a private house called Glenridding House, in the Victorian era when Ullswater was first drawing tourists to what many consider the loveliest of the English lakes. Glenridding grew up around the old lead mines, and the house watched the village transform into a lakeside resort.
Converted to a hotel in the 20th century, it sits in 15 acres of lawns running down to Ullswater, and its position, between lake and mountain at the foot of Helvellyn, remains one of the finest in the National Park.
Glenridding House to lakeside landmark
Now part of the Lake District Hotels group, the Inn on the Lake is one of Ullswater's flagship wedding venues, combining its unbeatable setting with an experienced, dedicated weddings team.
How To Get To Inn on the Lake
The Inn on the Lake is in Glenridding, on the southern shore of Ullswater, postcode CA11 0PE. Leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith), take the A66 west and then the A592 along the lakeshore to Glenridding; the hotel is signposted in the village.
Penrith station, on the West Coast Main Line, is about 25 minutes away by taxi, and the Ullswater Steamers from Pooley Bridge stop nearby. There's plenty of parking.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Inn on the Lake wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Inn on the Lake, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
