Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Muncaster Castle?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and there aren’t many venues that can genuinely call themselves a castle, but Muncaster more than earns it. I’ve photographed a wedding here and it’s an unforgettable place to get married, with the wild Ravenglass coast and fells all around.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
A real castle wedding on the edge of the Lake District. Let’s create something beautiful together at Muncaster Castle.

Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Muncaster Castle Wedding Venue
Inside Muncaster Castle
There aren't many wedding venues that can genuinely call themselves a castle, and Muncaster more than earns it. I've photographed a wedding here and it's an unforgettable place to get married, with the castle, the gardens and those views over the Eskdale valley all in one spot.
What makes it special is that it's a real castle and a real home, not a venue dressed up as one. Ceremonies and celebrations take place in the castle's historic rooms, run by the family and their team, and the atmosphere is something between a fairytale and a very grand house party.
A real castle, a real home
The castle is surrounded by 77 acres of celebrated gardens, with the whole of the Eskdale valley and the Lake District fells spread out beyond. For portraits, the castle's towers, the famous rhododendron collections and the valley views give you images no other venue can touch.
The day flows like a fairytale: ceremony in the castle, drinks on the lawns with that view, portraits around the gardens and towers, then a celebration in rooms that have hosted them for eight centuries.

The History of Muncaster Castle
Eight centuries of Penningtons
The Pennington family have called Muncaster home since at least 1208, when the lands were granted to Alan de Penitone, and the castle is believed to stand on Roman remains. That makes it one of the longest continuously inhabited family seats in the country.
The castle you see today was largely remodelled in the Victorian era, with Anthony Salvin giving it its romantic castellated skyline, but the heart of the building, including the medieval pele tower, is far older.
Roman roots, Salvin skyline
The family open the castle and gardens to visitors through the year, famous for the hawk and owl centre as well as the gardens, and host a small number of weddings. A Muncaster wedding is a genuinely historic occasion in one of Cumbria's most iconic settings.
How To Get To Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Castle is at Ravenglass, on the west Cumbrian coast, postcode CA18 1RQ. From the south, follow the A595 up the coast from Barrow; from the M6 junction 36, the A590 and A595 via Barrow is the simplest route. The castle is well signposted from the A595.
Ravenglass station, on the scenic Cumbrian Coast line and home of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, is just down the hill, and there's ample parking at the castle.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Muncaster Castle wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Muncaster Castle, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
