Castle Inn Hotel
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Castle Inn Hotel?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and The Castle Inn sits in one of the loveliest settings of any Lakeland hotel: Bassenthwaite Lake on one side, the fells on the other, with views towards Skiddaw. It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot for a wedding, and beautiful spots make for beautiful candid photography.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
Between the lake and the fells, with Skiddaw on the horizon. Let’s create something beautiful together at The Castle Inn.

A gorgeous place in the world
Sally and Jordan // Askham Hall Wedding

Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. There was a marvellous mix of Polish and English and plenty of happy tears. …
Tanya & Ryan // Lodore Falls Wedding
A day that was stellar in so many ways! Just fab people and total togetherness around Tanya and Ryan in one of my fave places. With such beautiful light it was no surprise that a quick photo session at The Surprise View over Derwent Water just added to the perfect day. Weddings are all about…

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Castle Inn Hotel Wedding Venue
Inside the Castle Inn
The Castle Inn sits in one of the loveliest settings of any Lakeland hotel: on the A591 with Bassenthwaite Lake on one side and the fells on the other, with views towards Skiddaw. The wedding suite comfortably hosts up to 120 guests, and the hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies, so the whole day can stay in one beautiful place.
It's a historic coaching inn with the warmth that implies: comfortable lounges, good food, and bedrooms that let your guests wake up to one of the finest fell views in the northern Lakes. For a Lake District wedding that's grand in scenery and relaxed in spirit, it's hard to fault.
Skiddaw across the water
The garden terrace is a lovely spot for drinks with those fell views all around, and for portraits the Bassenthwaite shoreline and Skiddaw backdrop are minutes away. On a clear day, the light over the lake towards the mountains is as good as anywhere in the National Park.
The day flows easily: ceremony in the suite, drinks on the terrace, a quick hop for lakeside portraits, then dinner and dancing with the fells fading into dusk outside the windows.

The History of Castle Inn Hotel
A coaching inn since 1770
The Castle Inn takes its name from its position on the old route north through Bassenthwaite, and the historic coaching inn dates back to 1770, when inns like this served travellers between Keswick and Cockermouth. It's been welcoming guests for over 250 years.
The present hotel has grown from those coaching inn roots into a comfortable four-star venue, looking across Bassenthwaite Lake to Skiddaw, one of England's highest mountains, and sitting within the Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Coaching inn to four-star
Now part of a small family hotel group, the Castle Inn keeps its traditional Lakeland hospitality while offering everything a modern wedding needs. The setting, between lake and mountain, does most of the talking.
How To Get To Castle Inn Hotel
The Castle Inn is on the A591 at Bassenthwaite, between Keswick and Cockermouth, postcode CA12 4RG. Leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith), take the A66 past Keswick, then the A591 towards Carlisle; the hotel is signposted on the left a few miles beyond the Bassenthwaite turn.
Penrith station, on the West Coast Main Line, is about 25 minutes away by taxi, and there's plenty of parking at the hotel.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Castle Inn Hotel wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Castle Inn Hotel, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
