The White Hart Inn at Lydgate
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at The White Hart Inn at Lydgate?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and The White Hart at Lydgate is a proper Saddleworth institution: an 18th-century inn in a picture-postcard Pennine village with incredible views across the hills. I’ve photographed three weddings here and the combination of pub warmth and Pennine views is unbeatable.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
A picture-postcard Pennine inn with views for miles. Let’s create something beautiful together at The White Hart.

Inside the White Hart
The White Hart at Lydgate is a proper Saddleworth institution: an 18th-century inn in a picture-postcard Pennine village, with incredible views across the hills, and I've photographed 3 weddings here. The inn is full of character, the brasserie rooms are smart and welcoming, and the team are experienced wedding hands.
The Oak Room, built in 2005 with its own private entrance, gives weddings a dedicated space that feels special while keeping the inn's soul, and the food is excellent. It's everything a Pennine inn wedding should be.
Saddleworth views from the Oak Room
Set in the rolling hills of Saddleworth, the inn looks out across some of the loveliest scenery in the Pennines. Lydgate is a gorgeous village, and the lanes, the church and the hill views give portraits a timeless Pennine beauty.
The day flows with inn-wedding warmth: ceremony in the Oak Room, drinks with the hill views, portraits around the village, then a feast and a party in the heart of Saddleworth.

The History of The White Hart Inn at Lydgate
A building of many lives
The White Hart was built in 1788 by local landowner John Buckley, and it's lived more lives than most buildings manage: it's been the local police station, complete with shackled prisoners locked in the top floor, a schoolhouse, a weaver's cottage and even a lookout post during the wars.
Through all its lives, it's remained at the heart of Lydgate, and its current role as one of Saddleworth's best-loved inns and wedding venues suits it beautifully.
Police station to picture-postcard inn
Today the White Hart combines its 230 years of character with smart brasserie dining and the purpose-built Oak Room. Three weddings in, it remains one of my favourite Saddleworth venues.
How To Get To The White Hart Inn at Lydgate
The White Hart Inn is on Stockport Road in Lydgate, near Oldham, postcode OL4 4JJ. From the M60, leave at junction 22 and follow the A62 towards Oldham and Saddleworth, then signs for Lydgate. From Huddersfield, the A635 over the moors is a scenic route.
The nearest stations are Greenfield and Mossley, both a short taxi ride away, and there's parking at the inn.

Harriet & Fred // Bashall Barn Wedding
It may have been one of the windiest days of the year, but it was also one of the best so far! Wind and rain never matter as much as the people, and this day had all the emotion and energy to match. I think we spent about twenty minutes across the whole day taking…
Sarah & Ash // Clifton Arms Wedding
“Just one shot I’m after”, said Sarah. “The windmill!”. We got that shot and the wind – and there was plenty – did its job with the veil. We had a little window on a beautifully blustery day to walk to the windmill, along the promenade and the out to sea along the jetty. As…
