Stanley House
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Stanley House?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and Stanley House is one of the Ribble Valley’s standout wedding venues: I’ve photographed four weddings here, and the 17th-century manor sits high above Mellor with uninterrupted views right across the valley. Those views at golden hour are something else.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
Four weddings here, and those valley views never get old. Let’s create something beautiful together at Stanley House.

Stanley House Wedding Venue
Inside Stanley House
Stanley House is one of the Ribble Valley's standout wedding venues, and I've photographed 4 weddings here. The 17th-century manor sits high above Mellor with uninterrupted views right across the valley, and that view alone makes it worth the trip.
What I love about shooting here is the combination: a Grade II* listed house with real 17th-century soul, paired with contemporary style and a spa. The ceremony and reception spaces are elegant and light, and the whole place is run to a very high standard.
17th-century soul above Mellor
The terrace and gardens look straight down the Ribble Valley, which gives drinks receptions and portraits one of the best backdrops in Lancashire. I know exactly where the sun sets from that terrace, and it's something to see.
The day flows beautifully: ceremony in the house, drinks on the terrace with that view, portraits around the gardens, then dinner and dancing as the valley lights twinkle below.

The History of Stanley House
The manor of Mellor
Stanley House was built in the early 17th century and served for generations as the manor house of Mellor, until nearby Woodfold Hall was built around 1799 and took over that role. The Grade II* listed house passed through several hands over the centuries before falling on harder times.
Its rescue and restoration created the hotel and spa you see today, keeping the 17th-century character, the mullioned windows and ancient beams, while adding everything a modern luxury venue needs.
Mellor's manor, magnificently restored
Now one of the Blackburn area's premier wedding venues, Stanley House combines genuine historic grandeur, a luxurious spa and one of the finest views in the Ribble Valley. Having photographed 4 weddings here, I can say it never disappoints.
How To Get To Stanley House
Stanley House Hotel and Spa is on Further Lane in Mellor, near Blackburn, postcode BB2 7NP. From Blackburn, follow signs towards Mellor and climb the hill; from the M65, junction 5 or 6 via local roads works well.
Blackburn station, with direct trains from Manchester and Clitheroe, is about 10 minutes away by taxi, and there's ample parking at the hotel.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Stanley House wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Stanley House, document your day and capture all of the little moments that make it truly yours.

Harriet & Fred // Bashall Barn Wedding
It may have been one of the windiest days of the year, but it was also one of the best so far! Wind and rain never matter as much as the people, and this day had all the emotion and energy to match. I think we spent about twenty minutes across the whole day taking…
Sarah & Ash // Clifton Arms Wedding
“Just one shot I’m after”, said Sarah. “The windmill!”. We got that shot and the wind – and there was plenty – did its job with the veil. We had a little window on a beautifully blustery day to walk to the windmill, along the promenade and the out to sea along the jetty. As…
