The River Barn
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at The River Barn?
I’m Andy Wade, a documentary wedding photographer based in Lancashire. I’ve photographed weddings at The River Barn near Poulton-le-Fylde, and if you’re getting married in April, ask me about the field at the back: it fills with bluebells, and the portraits in it are really beautiful.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
If you’re planning a River Barn wedding, this page is my photographer’s view of the place: the barn, the grounds, and how I photograph the day without keeping you from your guests. I usually ask for about 20 minutes for portraits: long enough to get the good stuff, short enough you’re not back late to your own party.
Here’s Grace and Marcus’s wonderful wedding at The River Barn as an example. What a day!

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
What The River Barn is like as a wedding venue
Inside the River Barn
The River Barn is a beautifully restored old barn on the banks of the River Wyre, just outside Poulton-le-Fylde, all exposed beams and stone walls, with gardens that work for outdoor ceremonies. It feels properly rural, but it's an easy run from Preston and Blackpool, so guests are never far away.
The barn hosts the whole day, from ceremony to party, and the exclusive-use setting means the riverside grounds are all yours. It's rustic, romantic and run with real care.
Beams, stone and riverside gardens
The five acres on the banks of the Wyre include protected woodland, a walled garden and a courtyard, giving drinks and portraits a gorgeous, sheltered setting. The river itself adds a gentle magic, especially as the light drops.
The day flows with riverside charm: ceremony in the barn or the gardens, drinks in the courtyard, portraits by the water, then a party in the barn as the river slides past outside.

The History of The River Barn
A barn reborn
The River Barn is one of Lancashire's newer wedding venues: a lovingly restored oak barn set in five acres on the banks of the River Wyre, just outside Poulton-le-Fylde. What it lacks in centuries it makes up for in setting: protected woodland, a walled garden, a courtyard and the river itself.
The restoration was done with obvious love for the old building, keeping its beams and stone walls while creating a venue designed around how modern weddings actually work.
Restored with obvious love
For couples on the Fylde coast side of Lancashire wanting an exclusive-use barn with genuine riverside beauty, the River Barn has quickly become a favourite.
How To Get To The River Barn
The River Barn is on Mains Lane, just outside Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire. From the M55, leave at junction 3 and follow the A585 towards Fleetwood, then signs for Poulton; from Preston, the A6 and A586 work well.
Poulton-le-Fylde station, on the line from Preston and Blackpool, is a short taxi ride away, and there's parking at the barn.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
I’ve photographed weddings at The River Barn and I know the team, the best portrait rooms, and the seasonal tricks like the bluebell field and the tree-lined drive.
My approach is documentary: the day as it really happens, with around 20 minutes of portraits when the light is kind. If you’re planning a River Barn wedding, I’d love to hear from you.

Harriet & Fred // Bashall Barn Wedding
It may have been one of the windiest days of the year, but it was also one of the best so far! Wind and rain never matter as much as the people, and this day had all the emotion and energy to match. I think we spent about twenty minutes across the whole day taking…
Sarah & Ash // Clifton Arms Wedding
“Just one shot I’m after”, said Sarah. “The windmill!”. We got that shot and the wind – and there was plenty – did its job with the veil. We had a little window on a beautifully blustery day to walk to the windmill, along the promenade and the out to sea along the jetty. As…
