Lodore Falls Hotel
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Lodore Falls Hotel?
I’m Andy Wade, a documentary wedding photographer covering the Lake District. I’ve photographed weddings at Lodore Falls near Keswick, and between the waterfall, Derwentwater and the fells, it might be the most photogenic spot I work in. I also know a viewpoint under five minutes away that looks over Derwent Water right up to Bassenthwaite, and it’s breathtaking.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
If you’re planning a Lodore Falls wedding, this page is what the venue looks like through my lens: the light, the lake, and how I keep the photography quick and relaxed. I usually ask for about 20 minutes for portraits: long enough to get the good stuff, short enough you’re not back late to your own party.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
What Lodore Falls Hotel is like as a wedding venue
Inside the Lodore Falls
Lodore Falls Hotel sits in the Borrowdale valley with the famous waterfall behind it and Derwentwater in front, so you are genuinely spoilt for backdrops. The Derwent Suite takes the bigger celebrations with views over the fells and the lake, and the whole venue is licensed for civil ceremonies.
The hotel combines its spectacular setting with real comfort: a spa with views of the falls, dining crafted from the finest local ingredients, and bedrooms where you wake to the sound of the waterfall. It's Borrowdale at its most romantic.
The falls behind, Derwentwater ahead
The gardens by the falls are made for photographs: the waterfall tumbling down the crag behind you, the lake glittering in front. Few venues anywhere in England can offer a waterfall and a lake in the same portrait session.
The day flows beautifully: ceremony in the suite, drinks overlooking the water, portraits by the falls and the lakeshore, then dinner and dancing as the fells go purple in the evening light.

The History of Lodore Falls Hotel
Two centuries by the falls
There has been an inn of some kind on this spot since at least 1795, serving travellers heading into Borrowdale, and the hotel itself dates from 1870, when Victorian tourists began arriving to see the famous falls. The Lodore waterfall has drawn visitors since the Romantic poets made Borrowdale famous.
After passing through various hands, including a spell as the Swiss Lodore, the hotel has been continuously improved, adding the spa and the suites while keeping its unrivalled position at the head of Derwentwater.
An inn since 1795
Now part of the Lake District Hotels group, the Lodore Falls is one of the Keswick area's premier wedding venues, offering couples the full Borrowdale experience: lake, falls, fells and four-star comfort in one unforgettable setting.
How To Get To Lodore Falls Hotel
The Lodore Falls Hotel is on the B5289 in Borrowdale, about 3 miles south of Keswick, postcode CA12 5UX. From the M6, leave at junction 40 (Penrith), take the A66 to Keswick, then follow the B5289 into Borrowdale; the hotel is signposted on the lakeside road.
Penrith station, on the West Coast Main Line, is about 30 minutes away by taxi, and the Keswick Launch boats stop nearby. There's plenty of parking at the hotel.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
I’ve photographed weddings at Lodore Falls and I know where the light goes here: the Cat Bells sunset spot, the Bassenthwaite viewpoint, and how to make the most of the lake. Couples can even take a wedding-day cruise out onto Derwent Water from the landing at Lodore, which always makes for brilliant photographs.
My approach is documentary: the day as it happens, with around 20 minutes of portraits when the fells are showing off. If you’re planning a Lodore Falls wedding, tell me about it. You can see a real Lodore Falls wedding in my gallery from Tanya & Ryan.
