Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Cragwood Hotel?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and Cragwood is one of the most romantic venues in the Lakes: a Victorian country house in 20 acres of gardens that run right down to the shore of Windermere. I’ve photographed a wedding here and the walk down to the water makes for unforgettable portraits.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
Twenty acres of gardens leading down to the lake. Let’s create something beautiful together at Cragwood.

Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Cragwood Hotel Wedding Venue
Inside Cragwood
Cragwood is one of the most romantic wedding venues in the Lakes: a Victorian country house set in 20 acres of gardens that run right down to the shore of Windermere. I've photographed a wedding here and the lakeshore setting is just magical.
It's a small, exclusive venue that specialises in intimate weddings, which means the house feels like yours for the day. The ceremony and reception rooms are full of Edwardian character, and with a handful of beautiful bedrooms, your closest people can stay over and wake up to the lake.
Gardens running down to Windermere
The gardens are beautiful in every season, winding down through lawns and woodland to the hotel's own stretch of Windermere shoreline. Having your own piece of the lake for portraits is something very few venues can offer, and the light on the water at the end of the day is extraordinary.
The day flows gently: ceremony in the house, drinks on the lawns, a wander down to the shore for portraits, then dinner in the oak-panelled dining room as the lake darkens outside. It's intimate, it's peaceful, and it feels like your own private country house for the day.

The History of Cragwood Hotel
An Edwardian lakeside house
Cragwood was built in 1909 as a grand Edwardian country house, designed by Manchester architect Frank Dunkerley for a wealthy client drawn, like so many, to the Windermere shore. It was an era when the Lakes' most beautiful shorelines were being lined with fine houses, and Cragwood is one of the best survivors.
The house retains all the character of its era: oak panelling, ornate plasterwork and mullioned windows framing the fell views, set in 20 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland with direct access to the lake.
Edwardian grandeur, intact
Now part of the Lake District Country Hotels group, Cragwood has found its calling as one of Windermere's most romantic small wedding venues. Couples who want the lake, the gardens and a house full of character, without the scale of a big hotel, tend to fall for it on the first visit.
How To Get To Cragwood Hotel
Cragwood is on the A591 Ambleside Road, just north of Windermere, postcode LA23 1LQ. Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590 then the A591 towards Windermere. Pass through Windermere village towards Ambleside and the hotel entrance is on your right, about 2 miles north of the village.
Windermere station is a few minutes away by taxi, with direct services from Oxenholme, and there's parking in the grounds.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Cragwood Hotel wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Cragwood Hotel, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
