Lindeth Howe Hotel
Wedding Photographer
Are you looking for Wedding Photographer at Lindeth Howe Hotel?
I’m Andy Wade, an award winning photographer, and Lindeth Howe holds a special place in Lake District history as Beatrix Potter’s former home, in the hills above Bowness. I’ve photographed five weddings here, and its gardens and views over Windermere never stop giving me new ways to tell the story of a day.
My approach is all about storytelling in a relaxed documentary style, focusing on the real emotions, and creative yet natural portraits. The weddings you see across Andy Wade Photography are all real days I’ve documented, so what you see here is exactly how I’d photograph yours.
A venue I know like an old friend, with Windermere laid out below. Let’s create something beautiful together at Lindeth Howe.

Sally and Jordan // Askham Hall Wedding

Aleks & Caleb // Broadoaks Country Hotel
Need the perfect sunset for your day!? I can provide that, too!! With a bit of local knowledge and two very willing people we managed to catch the perfect sunset on this beautifully intimate day at the wonderful Broadoaks Country Hotel. There was a marvellous mix of Polish and English and plenty of happy tears. …
Tanya & Ryan // Lodore Falls Wedding
A day that was stellar in so many ways! Just fab people and total togetherness around Tanya and Ryan in one of my fave places. With such beautiful light it was no surprise that a quick photo session at The Surprise View over Derwent Water just added to the perfect day. Weddings are all about…

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Lindeth Howe Hotel Wedding Venue
Inside Lindeth Howe
Lindeth Howe holds a special place in Lake District history, and it's a lovely venue for a wedding. I've photographed 5 weddings here, so I know it well. The house sits in the hills above Bowness with views down towards Windermere, and the gardens are gorgeous in summer.
It's a boutique, family-feel hotel that specialises in intimate celebrations: civil ceremonies in the house or gardens, excellent food from a well-regarded kitchen, and beautiful bedrooms for your guests. Just a short walk from the heart of Bowness, yet peaceful and private.
Intimate weddings, done beautifully
For portraits, the grounds and the fell views give us lovely options, and the house itself, Beatrix Potter's former home, adds a literary charm you won't find anywhere else. The terrace overlooking the gardens is made for summer drinks.
The day flows with intimate ease: ceremony in the house, drinks on the terrace, portraits around the gardens, then dinner in the dining room where Potter once sat.
I know a local jetty on Lake Windermere for beautiful portraits, just five minutes away.

The History of Lindeth Howe Hotel
Beatrix Potter's house
Lindeth Howe's most famous resident was Beatrix Potter. She fell in love with the house while staying here, and in 1915, after the death of her father, she bought it for her mother Helen to live in. Beatrix visited regularly and is said to have worked on illustrations here, including for The Tale of Pigling Bland.
The house dates from the late Victorian era, when the hills above Bowness were filling with the comfortable villas of the well-to-do, drawn by the lake and the famous air.
Bought for a grieving mother
Now a boutique hotel, Lindeth Howe trades gently on its Potter heritage while offering genuine Lakeland hospitality. For couples who love the Lakes and a good story, a wedding in Beatrix Potter's former home is hard to resist.
How To Get To Lindeth Howe Hotel
Lindeth Howe is on Longtail Hill, above Bowness-on-Windermere, postcode LA23 3JF. Leave the M6 at junction 36, follow the A591 to Windermere and the A592 to Bowness, then follow signs up Longtail Hill; the hotel is signposted locally.
Windermere station, with direct trains from Oxenholme, is about 5 minutes away by taxi, and there's parking at the hotel.
Why book Andy Wade Photography?
You’ve found your venue, and now you want the day photographed as it actually happens, not staged around the camera. My style is natural and documentary: genuine moments, real emotion, and the laughter, tears and everything in between, documented quietly while you get on with enjoying it.
As your Lindeth Howe Hotel wedding photographer, I’m committed to creating a collection that reflects the true emotion of your day, ensuring you have memories to cherish forever. Let’s tell your unique story together.
I couldn’t be more excited to join you on your wedding day at Lindeth Howe Hotel, document your day, and capture all the little moments that make it truly yours.
