The History of Dorfold Hall
Nestled in the picturesque Cheshire countryside, Dorfold Hall is a distinguished Jacobean mansion that serves as a stunning wedding venue. Its history dates back to 1616 when it was constructed for Sir Roger Wilbraham, a distinguished lawyer who served as Solicitor-General for Ireland. The hall is an exemplary illustration of early Jacobean architecture, distinguished by its intricate brickwork and symmetrical design. It is located just a mile from the charming market town of Nantwich, providing easy access to nearby Chester and Crewe, enhancing its appeal as a venue.
Throughout its history, Dorfold Hall has been associated with several notable events and figures. During the English Civil War, it is believed to have played host to the renowned Prince Rupert of the Rhine. The hall remained in the Wilbraham family until the late 20th century, after which it was passed into the hands of the Roundell family, who have meticulously preserved its historical integrity while ensuring it meets the needs of modern events. The well-maintained gardens and expansive grounds offer a stunning backdrop for celebrations, while the interior combines historical elegance with contemporary amenities. Today, Dorfold Hall continues to capture the imagination of visitors, offering a uniquely historical setting for weddings and events.
