Rachel & Andrew // Knowsley Hall
A wedding photographer at Knowsley Hall can sometimes be overwhelmed by the sheer stateliness of such a grand venue. Owned by the Earl and Countess of Derby the very welcoming doors of Knowsley have been open for brides and groom for many a year so any concerns with the camera are soon put at ease.
Rachel and Andrew stepped into this beautiful backdrop and into married life together on a beautiful day in November. As a documentary wedding photographer I’m mostly looking for natural shots which tell the story of personal connections between people which transcend the grandeur of the venue or the time of year.
As much as my candid approach aimed at telling the authentic story of the day there were a few photos the happy couple wanted. That included a gorgeous night shot of them at the front with the romantic lights of Knowsley upon them and one of everyone on the front steps of this wonderful stately home.
There were, inevitably, those spontaneous moments. As the surprise singing waiter burst into song in the State Dining Room it seemed to wake up all those people in the portraits on the wall and that dancing seemed to carry on into the Stucco Ballroom for the first dance and then long into the night.
