Lorna & John // Muncaster Castle

Bride and groom by a lake in wellies.

Lorna and Jon wanted a wedding with a twist. With the ceremony in the chapel next to the castle that would host the wedding breakfast at Muncaster, it was Wastwater in The Lake District that was the focus. There on the rock looking up to Great Gable we were to snap the perfect couple shot as we’d practiced in our pre-wedding shoot. Like a rally driver I had to get them back to the reception on time as the were wedding guests to see and a Ceili to dance in the evening.

Before our adventure on the rocks began we stared at Ravenglass with the bridal preparations. A moody sea view awaited as Lorna and Jon prepared in their own places. Capturing the swapping of gifts was emotional and I knew that a simple documentary approach was going to tell the true – and very romantic story – about these two. The chapel was beautifully intimate and after many cheers I whisked them off to Wastwater with Matty the videographer. After our whirlwind shoot it was back to the lavish rooms of the castle for a beautiful wedding breakfast and speeches – all watched by the baron and baronesses of the past!

And so to the party….well just before it was time for some night photography to capture the whole group and Lorna and Jon against the backdrop of the castle and Eskdale Valley. And so the dancing! There’s nothing better than capturing the emotion and energy of a wedding naturally and so it was once the whole wedding party danced into the small hours. Job done on an epic day!
