Joanne & Marcus // Kolding Fjord, Denmark
After landing with my cameras at Billund airport I was met by the lovely Joanne and whisked back to Hotel Koldingfjord to start a wonderful three days of adventure for a destination wedding in Denmark. It was to be a very special time personally as well as professionally. Being a destination wedding photographer I share more than just one day with my couples which makes the photography so much more personal.
The wedding itself was on day three. On day one we shot off north to castle Rosenholm where Marcus had proposed to Joanne. It was a beautiful sunny day and after a very relaxed walk around the gorgeous gardens it seemed just like a day out with friends chatting and just enjoying time together. There was even a stop off on the Infinity Bridge on the way back before Marcus fell asleep on the way home – this pre wedding shoot lark can wear you out!
The rest of that day and the next day was family time and capturing some beautifully natural moments between them. We had a mix of Persian, Danish and English families so it was very special to capture this time together. On day two I drove out with Marcus to visit his family hometown of Christiansfeld. We paid an emotional visit to the place where his grandmother was laid to rest, the old bakery where he used to work and then it was the supermarket on the way back to get 100lb of sweets for the sweet trolley. I did my bit to help!
The wedding had a ‘20s theme with a nod to Peaky Blinders. The family cultures brought together the most wonderful mix of traditions including a magnificent Persian Sofreh table representing the lives and future for two wonderful people. The day was no different in my approach to any wedding day; natural, relaxed and just anticipating those wonderful storytelling moments with a few choice portraits. I had shot a very special shot over the three days to mark what a wonderful story, and adventure, it was.
