I’m lucky enough to photograph weddings across the whole of Yorkshire and every time one pops into my calendar I’m excited to get back there. The variety of venues across the region means no two weddings ever feel the same.

Coniston Hotel
The Coniston Hotel near Skipton is one of my favourite venues to photograph in Yorkshire.
Set within a huge countryside estate, the venue offers lakes, woodland and sweeping views across the surrounding landscape. That gives us loads of options for relaxed portraits without ever needing to wander far from the celebration.
One thing I particularly enjoy about weddings at Coniston is how the day tends to flow between the indoor spaces and the outdoor grounds. Guests naturally spill outside during the drinks reception, which creates loads of genuine moments to capture.
Later in the evening the light across the estate can be fantastic as well. When the sun drops over the surrounding hills it often creates the perfect opportunity for a few relaxed sunset portraits.
Falcon Manor
Falcon Manor sits just above the town of Settle and the views across the Yorkshire Dales are something else.
The gardens overlook the surrounding countryside, which means the backdrop for photographs is always stunning without feeling overly dramatic or forced.
One of the things I love about Falcon Manor is the relaxed atmosphere throughout the day. Guests tend to move between the gardens and the house quite naturally, which leads to lots of authentic moments and interactions.
Golden hour at Falcon Manor can be particularly special. I’ve photographed some beautiful sunset portraits here where the soft evening light drops across the Dales behind the venue.
It’s a place that feels both elegant and welcoming at the same time.
Sandburn Hall
Sandburn Hall near York is a venue I’ve photographed several times and it always produces a great atmosphere.
The main ceremony space is filled with natural light, which is fantastic for photography and helps keep the ceremony feeling bright and relaxed. The surrounding countryside also provides a lovely setting for the rest of the day.
One thing that works really well here is how the venue flows between the ceremony, drinks reception and evening celebrations. Guests have plenty of space to move around and enjoy the surroundings.
That relaxed environment naturally leads to great moments being captured throughout the day, from laughter during the drinks reception to the energy on the dance floor later in the evening.
Ripley Castle
If you’re looking for a venue with real history and character, Ripley Castle is hard to beat.
The castle setting immediately creates a sense of occasion when guests arrive. Walking through the historic grounds feels like stepping into another era.
For photography, the combination of architecture and gardens provides loads of variety. The castle itself creates a dramatic backdrop while the surrounding grounds offer softer spaces for more relaxed portraits.
Weddings at Ripley Castle often feel timeless. There’s a lovely balance between the grandeur of the setting and the warmth of the celebrations taking place inside.
Holdsworth House
Holdsworth House just outside Halifax is a beautiful Jacobean manor house that’s full of charm.
The historic interiors give the venue a really distinctive character, while the gardens provide a peaceful setting for portraits and drinks receptions.
One of the things I always enjoy about photographing weddings here is the welcoming atmosphere. The venue feels intimate without being small, which allows couples to celebrate with family and friends while still keeping a relaxed feel throughout the day.
The gardens also provide some lovely quiet corners where couples can step away for a few moments together before heading back to the celebrations.
Victoria Hall
Victoria Hall in Saltaire offers something completely different to many Yorkshire wedding venues.
The building itself is impressive, with large windows and beautiful historic architecture that create a striking setting for ceremonies and receptions.
Because of the size and layout of the space, weddings here tend to have a fantastic energy throughout the day. The light inside the hall works beautifully for photography, especially during the ceremony and speeches.
It’s also a venue with real character. Couples who choose Victoria Hall often want something unique, and the building certainly delivers that.

After photographing weddings across Yorkshire for many years, I’ve noticed that the venues that work best usually share a few things in common.
