Gemma & Anthony
Wedding Photography at Stirk House
Having a natural, documentary approach to wedding photography was just the thing for Gemma and Anthony. When I met them at a wedding fair a couple of years ago, one word stuck with me… party! They did want a few of the choice family shots and one of everyone but apart from that it was all about capturing the day as it happened.
Marriage at St Mary’s Church in Gisburn
Bridal preparations were at Stirk House but then it was time had to nip out and get married at St Mary’s. Gemma was greeted by a very emotional Anthony at the altar. Emotion is such an important part of my work. I love to capture real moments as the tears roll, the laughs come out loud and everyone expressing their feelings on the wedding day. When the confetti had been thrown it was back to Stirk and we were met by the legendary MC Dave and the party.
Portrait Photography around Stirk House
The party had started but before Gemma and Anthony went in full swing, we did do a few family photos and a walk out into the grounds at Stirk for some portraits. I’m not one to overly pose people; just a little direction here and there to get the best backdrop and some luscious light and we’re away. It just seemed like a bit of a wander and a good laugh with these two and before we knew it we’d captured some really natural portraits. We stopped for a shot of everyone and then it was onto the wedding breakfast and party.
The Party
After some emotional speeches it was time for the dancing to begin… at the wedding breakfast. The evening celebrations hadn’t even started and everyone was up on their feet to the music. Bring on a coloured, glass dance floor and then it really was time to party. The energy on a wedding day can be electric and I love to pick up on that and nature images that represent that energy and reignite those feelings. And that was a fairly easy job with these two!
