Maggie & Mike
A Viking Wedding at Samlesbury Hall
Wedding Photography at Samlesbury Hall
Maggie and the bridesmaid were getting ready in The Gatehouse, a small lodge near the main hall. Wonderfully chaotic as most bridal preparations are the sense of excitement and emotion rose as Hayden, Mike son waltzed in to The Gatehouse in his kilt. The lads were all kilted out and Mike, in keeping with the theme, had an axe tucked into his belt. No messing with Mike! A short walk later and Maggie was at The Great Hall entrance and Mike, now a little nervous, turned as Maggie walked down the aisle. The setting, the way everyone was dressed had a regal feel. That coupled with the crisp winter air, crackling fires and the history of the hall made a very special atmosphere.
Winter Wedding Breakfast and a Viking Party
The feast was set under the grand chandelier and the flagons were ready on the tables. But before that feast began Maggi, Mike and I went for a wander through the grounds of Samlesbury Hall. I love natural wedding portraiture; capturing a couple together almost unaware of the camera. It wasn’t long beforeMaggie and Mike got lost in themselves. They just enjoyed each other and the moment. The beautiful backdrop of Samlesbury Hall and some choice colours enriched the feel and the theme. And after the wedding breakfast and a quick game of Mr & Mrs run by Hayden it was into party mode. Just a couple of shots of Maggie and Mike in the Great Hall – I couldn’t get enough of that axe! – and it was down to letting the party and the photos flow in natural fashion.
