Jessica & Chris
A Designer Wedding at Abbey House
Abbey House Hotel hotel takes its name from the neighbouring ruins of one of the greatest Cistercian foundations in the country, Furness Abbey. Jessica and Chris wanted to take full advantage of this amazing venue with lots of portraits in the grounds. The contemporary interior – designed by Jessica’s parents – juxtaposed beautifully with this listed building and the grounds of Furness Abbey.
A Church Wedding And Shoot On The Moors
Abbey House Hotel was for the perfect reception party but 90 miles before that it was a perfect wedding service at Pickup Bank Congregational Chapel. After the bridal preparation at home, Jessica arrived in a gleaming Landrover. It was the most intimate church wedding – the perfect challenge for a creative wedding photographer. Jessica and Chris were after romantic wedding portraits and after I’d spotted an open space just off the edge of the road we switched from the intimate church interior to a mini shoot on the moors with glorious skies.
Abbey House Hotel Wedding Photography
And so to Abbey House Hotel. As soon as we arrived the champagne flowed. Jessica and Chris chilled out with the their guests before another chink of the glasses and off to Furness Abbey. Some couples love to have a romantic shoot and this was beautifully simple. We just had a wander through the trees and down to the ruin stopping here and there on the way. The abbey ruin had such a rustic feel – something I knew I could style in the final photos – and the natural light dappling amongst the trees finished the shoot perfectly. There was time to relax with guests and the bridal before the wedding breakfast and (hilarious) speeches. Just before the evening party started I spotted an opportunity for some creative flash photography under the beautifully big chic lights and a night shot in front of the hotel – we were really working together to create some special photos. And there was always time to party, too.
